How the bank connection will work
Last reviewed October 8, 2026. Not live yet. This page says how it will work so you can judge it before you are asked to trust it.
Today Looni has no connection to any bank. When it ships, the connection will be read-only, through a licensed Canadian-capable aggregator (Plaid or Flinks), your login will be entered on the aggregator's screen and never seen or stored by Looni, and you will be able to disconnect in one tap. It will not ship before an independent security test.
What read-only means
- Looni can see account names, balances and transactions. It cannot move money, pay anyone, change settings, or log in as you.
- The aggregator talks to your bank. Looni receives a copy of the data it is allowed to read and nothing else.
- If you disconnect, the aggregator's access is revoked at that moment and no new data arrives.
What Looni will store, and why
| Data | Why | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Account names, types, balances | The all-in-one dashboard | Encrypted, Canada region |
| Twelve months of transactions | Finding fees, price rises, duplicates, recurring charges, and the proof behind each | Encrypted, Canada region |
| Your bank login | Never. It is entered on the aggregator's screen only. | Not with Looni |
The five steps, about a minute
1. Tap Connect. 2. Pick your bank on the aggregator's screen. 3. Log in there, with your bank's own two-factor step if it has one. 4. Choose which accounts to share. 5. Done. Looni starts reading, and the dashboard fills in.
What ships before this goes live
- An independent penetration test, with the summary published on the security page.
- Two-factor login on Looni accounts.
- In-app disconnect for one institution, and delete-everything, both in three taps. See delete your data.
- The aggregator named here, with a link to its privacy policy, on the sub-processors page.
Until then
The free scan reads a CSV or PDF statement in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. It is the same leak engine, without the connection.
Plain language note: Looni is not a bank and does not give financial advice. This page describes a planned feature; nothing on it is live today.
