Canada benefit payment dates 2026: every official date in one place
When a payment you count on is late, the first question is whether it was ever due. Here is the official 2026 calendar for every federal and CRA-administered benefit, taken from canada.ca, a tool that shows your next payment and the day it is reasonable to call, and what changed in 2026.

Your next payment and when to call if it does not arrive
| Benefit | Next payment | Days away | Call if missing after |

Dates are the official 2026 payment dates on canada.ca. "Call if missing after" counts working days (Monday to Friday) after the payment date: 5 for the CCB and the Alberta benefit and 10 for other CRA payments, as the CRA advises; Service Canada says to wait 5 to 10 business days, and the tool uses 10. Statutory holidays are not excluded, so the real date can be a day or two later. After the last 2026 date, the tool says the 2027 date is not posted yet.

In Ontario, the trillium benefit usually lands on the 10th; see our Ontario trillium benefit guide for amounts and the annual-payment option.

What changed in 2026: the GST/HST credit became the CGEB
The quarterly GST/HST credit was renamed the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit (CGEB) starting with the July 3, 2026 payment. According to the Department of Finance and the CRA:
- A one-time top-up equal to 50% of the 2025 to 2026 GST/HST credit was issued starting June 5, 2026 to people entitled to the January 2026 payment. It may still show as "GST/HST credit" in your CRA account.
- From July 2026, quarterly payments were increased by 25% for five years.
- Payments from July 2026 to June 2027 are based on your 2025 tax return, which is why filing on time matters even with little or no income.
If you received the GST/HST credit, you generally did not need to apply again. Amounts, examples and who qualifies are in our Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit guide. The Canada Carbon Rebate is closed; its last payment was April 22, 2025.
Worked example: when to call about a missing payment
Your CCB is due Friday, November 20, 2026. The CRA says to wait 5 working days before contacting it. Counting Monday to Friday: November 23, 24, 25, 26 and 27. So if nothing has arrived by the end of Friday, November 27, it is reasonable to call. For the Ontario trillium benefit on Tuesday, November 10, the CRA's wait is 10 working days, which runs to Tuesday, November 24 (later if a holiday falls in between). The tool above does this counting for you.
If a payment is late
- Check the date against the tables above. Dates shift around weekends and holidays, so check the table rather than assuming the usual day.
- Wait the right number of working days. Canada.ca says payments may take a few days to arrive and posted cheques longer than direct deposit; it suggests waiting 5 to 10 business days. The CRA says 5 working days for the CCB and the Alberta benefit and 10 for its other payments.
- Check your account. CRA My Account shows your next CRA payment and lets you sign up for payment reminders about a week before each one.
- Check your banking details. If you changed banks, update direct deposit with both the CRA and Service Canada. Our bank switching checklist covers both.
- Check your tax return. CRA benefits are calculated from your return; the CGEB payments from July 2026 to June 2027 use your 2025 return. If it was not filed or is still being assessed, payments can be held.
- Watch for scams. Canada.ca warns about false information online.
When will the 2027 dates be posted?
As of October 26, 2026, the CRA's payment dates page and the canada.ca benefits calendar list 2026 dates only. Third-party sites publish "2027 dates", but those are projections. We will add 2027 dates here once canada.ca posts them. Until then, the pattern is a reasonable guide but not a promise: the CCB around the 20th, the CGEB in early January, April, July and October, and CPP and OAS near the end of each month.
Ways to get paid on time
| Option | Why it helps |
|---|---|
| Direct deposit with the CRA and Service Canada | Faster than a mailed cheque and keeps arriving in an emergency |
| CRA payment reminders | An alert about one week before each CRA payment |
| File your return on time every year | CRA benefits are recalculated from your return each July |
| Keep your marital status, address and children up to date | Changes can change what you receive |
